HDRB High Damping Rubber Bearings are used for the isolation of a superstructure from the sub-structure. During an earthquake, the isolation can reduce the impact by seismic energy acting on the structure. HDRB High Damping Rubber Bearings are similar to normal elastomeric bearings with laminated steel plates, but the elastomer material has a special composition that dissipates seismic energy by deformation and heat generation.

In regular conditions, HDRB High Damping Rubber Bearings act as normal structure bearings, which transfer loads, movement and rotation between superstructure and sub-structure, but when earthquake comes, they work on the principle of base isolation and limit the energy transferred from the ground to the structure.
